	Recent car bombing fires up concerns of spillover A car bomb, that left eight Nuevo Laredo officers wounded just four miles from the US border, has one valley lawmaker calling for action saying this war isn't just Mexico's --it effects everyone. Congressman Henry Cuellar said if we don't help Mexico now, their problems could soon become ours. Car bombings are apparently a new tactic for the drug cartel. There have been four reported since the height of the drug war just south of the border. Congressman Cuellar said the recent bombing of a police dormitory in Nuevo Laredo is just another indication that the cartels are taking their operations to a very dangerous and deadly level. One he fears could eventually pose a threat to those living in the US along the border. "This is why I'm a firm believer in working with the Mexican government to try and help them," said the congressman. "Mexico should be seen as a friend and not an enemy, as some people see it. There are problems there and they won't go away. This is a 2000 mile border we have with Mexico and we have to do everything we can to stop the violence over there or we will have more problems on the US side." Reports show that the Mexican cartel have already moved into the United States, making a home in over 250 cities. McAllen, Laredo, Rio Grande City and San Antonio just to name a few. 	McAllen meeting seeking protection for family owned pharmacies Family owned pharmacies such as Muniz Rio Grande Pharmacy are struggling to keep their doors open. Since March 1st of this year, Bobby Muniz says pharmacies like his have been devastated due to Medicaid reimbursement cuts. " The reimbursement rates that I'm seeing are two dollars, a dollar fifty, sometimes zero. If I don't get reimbursed correctly, at least $12.50, I'm losing money," said Muniz. A meeting on Thursday night at the McAllen Convention Center sought to fight for more funds for these independently owned pharmacies. Members of congress as well as American Pharmacies are fighting to protect and promote the success of independent pharmacies. They said that the elimination of these businesses could devastate community-pharmacy relations. Both Congressman Ruben Hinojosa and Laird Leavoy with American Pharmacies say that losing those small, home-grown pharmacies like Rio Grande in Harlingen will leave the residents who are most in need of their services, with nowhere to turn. In Muniz's case, several pharmacists in the family will be out of a job. Hundreds of people attended the event in McAllen tonight. 	Family owned pharmacies struggling to keep doors open Family owned pharmacies are not getting enough money from Medicaid to keep their businesses afloat. Hundreds of local pharmacists are gathering together for a Thursday night meeting. Independent owned pharmacies are struggling to keep their doors open due to managed care. Bobby Muniz, a pharmacist in Harlingen, said this is a problem that should be addressed. Munoz Rio Grande Valley Pharmacy is a family owned business that has been operating for 23 years. Since March 1, Muniz said pharmacies like his have been forced to shut down due to Medicaid not giving them enough money to support their small business. "Basically what's happening is reimbursement rates are really low with Medicaid," said Muniz. "The reimbursement rates that I'm seeing are $2, $1.50, sometimes $0. So if I don't get reimbursed correctly, at least $12.50, I'm losing money." According to Muniz, the only reason their pharmacy has stayed open is due to the variety of patients that do not have Medicaid, and that have other forms of insurance or that pay cash for their medications. The Thursday night meeting will address this issue at the McAllen Convention Center at 7 pm Lawmakers, pharmacists and the public have all been invited to this meeting. "Omar Lucio says he's not a county employee... He's confused," Cisneros stated in his own television political advertisement. The former state trooper who touts 30 years of law enforcement experience, doesn't believe the sheriff is mentally capable of holding office for a third consecutive time. "By God if he receives a check from the county... With the name Cameron County... He is a county employee," Cisneros said. " His motto is honesty and integrity... He needs to be honest with the people... His own sister has made comments that he's at the early stages of dementia." Dementia is a loss of brain function that affects memory and thinking.
